The Western Pennsylvania Sheep & Wool Growers Association (formerly Lawrence County & Mercer County Sheep & Wool Growers) will host its annual Shepherd’s Night program June 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mercer County Penn State Cooperative Extension Office, 463 N. Perry Highway.
The program will include a display/discussion of some fencing equipment/materials that are available for producers to aid in grazing. The featured speaker for the evening will be Steven Campbell, Penn State Extension agronomist, who will be discussing “Grazing & Pasture Management.”
There will be a potluck/tureen dinner. Coffee, cold drink, rolls and butter will be provided.
The crowning of the 2025-26 Western Pennsylvania Lamb and Wool Queen/Ambassador will be another highlight of the evening. Applicants are needed for the contest. Interested individuals should contact Joy Wilson at joyfulmusic4piano@gmail.com or 724-674-0338.
The association includes members throughout western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio, plus a few from southern New York. All are welcome to attend this free event.

The Pennsylvania Grazing Lands Coalition and Mack Farms invite you to attend a pasture walk in Brush Valley, PA (Indiana County).
Eli Mack, owner and operator of Mack Farms, is an avid grazier and Accredited Professional through the Savory Institute for Holistic Management, which informs his farm management decisions. Mack Farms is a small but diverse farm, raising Highland cattle, hair sheep, and poultry, all on pasture. Eli is a few years into establishing Silvopasture on farm and continues to plant more trees each year to benefit both livestock and wildlife. The pasture walk will focus on the following:
– Pasture/grazing system layout
– Integration of silvopasture
– Maintenance of wildlife habitat
– Marketing
A picnic lunch including sandwiches, salads, dessert and drinks ($10) will follow at the Brush Valley Township Park. Participants are invited to remain for the PA GLC board meeting immediately after lunch.

Join the Perry County Conservation District in celebrating their 75th anniversary by joining them for a field day at Mowrer’s Grazing Beef Operation in Elliottsburg, PA on Saturday, August, 2, 2025.
The full day event features learning, networking and hands-on demonstrations featuring 8 expert speakers across 6 dynamic sessions, including: grazing livestock selection, precision agriculture & technology, high-intensity grazing strategies, solar systems in grazing operations, grazing cover crops, and tying manure and nutrient cycle to soil health.
A hot bbq lunch is provided, doors open at 7:30 AM
