The Pennsylvania Grazing Lands Coalition (PAGLC) was created to facilitate collaboration and the sharing of ideas about grazing in PA. As part of this mission we strongly value the importance of mentorship. Structured mentorship programs, project focused grazing advisors or specialists, and regional grazing groups, promote connections with experienced graziers to help Pennsylvania graziers achieve increased profits while improving the health of their livestock and their land.
Details about mentoring and support programs are available below.
PA GLC administers a grazing mentorship program for new and beginning graziers in Pennsylvania. People who are new to grazing management can easily be overwhelmed by the large amount of available information that can be conflicting and confusing. An experienced and successful grazier can be a very valuable partner to help a novice avoid pitfalls and deal with the inevitable challenges of grazing and livestock management. The PA GLC grazing mentorship program is designed to provide the beginning grazier, as well as those planning a major change in grazing management or species, with an experienced grazing partner who can provide insight, support, and access to grazing information and farm-related resources of which the beginning grazier may not be aware. New and beginning graziers of cattle, small ruminants, equine, and swine are welcome to apply to this program.
PA GLC connects new and beginning farmers with experienced graziers through the grazing mentoring program.
Details about the program will soon be available on the Pasa website and you can learn more about the mentors here.
